R10 vs Warragul Industrials

Seniors

Coach: David Main

We welcomed Warragul Industrials to the Cobra Dome knowing that over the years the battles across all grades are always very competitive and Saturday was no different!!

The mood before the game was different. You could tell our boys wanted to best display our best footy.

The first quarter showed that. Anthony Giuliano was our spark with 3 first quarter goals and pressure work in the forward line was something that had been lacking over a few weeks. Matt Ryan worked hard and was constantly giving us a target to kick to. Nathan Gardner continues to deliver every time the ball is in his area. With big marks and constantly bringing his teammates into the game he is a powerful influence.

The backline was again led well by Ash Williams, Heath Briggs and Shaun Sparks. Sparks provides the leadership in ensuring the defence is held together with great anticipation and accurate disposal.

Special mention to Luke Ryan (captain of our 18’s) who continues to improve and have big moments throughout match. Luke also represented our club in the Under 18 Interleague side and impressed everyone.

Our midfield was dominant again with Robbie Hill, Chris Johnson leading the way and Brent Urwin giving us a lot of run both defensively and in attack.

We went on to win by 27 points with a lot to still improve and hoping we start to see 4 quarter efforts as we gear up for a big run home with us playing four of the teams in the hunt for finals.

WE ARE CORA LYNN.

Reserves

Coach: Michael Palmer

Off the back of some great footy over the last 2 weeks, the boys were excited for the challenge of formidable opposition in Warragul Industrials. We welcomed a few familiar Cora Lynn faces into the side in Chris Sharp, Alex Foster and Luke Foreman. From the opening bounce we knew we were going to have our hands full. Warragul had big bodies and experienced heads on every line. Not shying away we were able to hit the scoreboard and go in a kick behind at quarter time.

We made some slight adjustments to our approach in the second. These tweaks served us well with Josh McKenzie, Luke Foreman and Blake Millier beginning to get their hands on the footy. We controlled most of the play in the third quarter. Matt Ferguson, Nick Buckland and Chris Sharp were all superb. Not to be outdone, Warragul made the most of their opportunities. Kicking 3 straight from 3 forward entries for the quarter. We went into the last break down by 3 points! How good is footy?! As a side we put a lot of emphasis on kicking the first goal of the last quarter. We were determined to make sure the first contest set the tone. We kicked the first and continued on with the job to finish 4 goals ahead when the final siren sounded. An amazing day to be a Cora Lynn Cobra. Well done lads! We look forward to next week and a trip down the road to Tooradin
